Every florist has a genesis story. Mine began with sunflowers. To back up just a minute, I have always loved flowers. Ive always loved seeing the first hint of spring peeking through the ground with tulips and daffodils. The colors, the smell, the gracefulness of the blooms and stems reaching towards the sun like a dancer gracing the stage. I had always thought about how did a florist get into that profession, but I never really inquired about it. So life went on, until about 2019. My beloved grandmother who I credit so much of who I have become, had reached a downward spiral in her fight with Parkinson’s. She relocated to Indiana and subsequently moved to an assisted living facility. I would visit weekly and I started bringing sunflowers after seeing a bunch greeting me at a nearby grocery. She was so excited and happy to see them. I noticed that I too was so cheered by seeing their bright colors and the reaction that having them brought to my grandmother. So weekly, I brought our signature flower or something else when it wasn’t in bloom. To this day whenever I see sunflowers, I immediately think of her and my time with her.
My time spent with flowers began to blossom after this because it was at this time that I saw for myself that flowers are a form of therapy. I truly believe flowers are a powerful form of healing and provides comfort and joy to not only the receiver but also the giver. I would purchase flowers for myself and others. So fast forward a few years later, I decided with the encouragement of a friend to make a go of this dream. In less than 6 months, I enrolled in a floral school and took off on this journey and haven’t looked back since. My mission is to spread joy and comfort through colorful flowers using sustainable methods. I also believe beautiful flowers are for everyone and every day. Join me on my mission and lets spread some joy and comfort.
